Position Summary WashU's Division of Student Affairs seeks an experienced medical professional for the position of Clinical Director, Medical Services. The Division of Student Affairs advances the educational mission of the university through resources and experiences outside the classroom that prepare our students for lifelong success.
Utilizing both medical and administrative experience, this position supervises and coordinates the provision of care, including medical, sexual health, sports medicine, and travel medicine. Organizes Student Health Center providers into a system assuring quality care through an understanding of student health needs, review of care audits, the fostering of communication among and between staff and advocating for necessary resources.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Direct patient care:
- Evaluate and treat scheduled patients in primary care clinic. This includes prescription refills, patient messaging, managing test results, communicating with specialists, outside providers, family members, and charting.
- Participate in rotating after hours on call coverage. This includes covering late day provider duties, and carrying the on-call phone and documentation.
Administrative duties: Ensures the delivery of high-quality medical services to students.
- Supervising MD's and mid-level providers (interviewing, selecting, scheduling)
- Organize in-service training and development for medical staff
- Evaluating providers with annual performance appraisals, chart reviews and action plans and/or tools to resolve any provider personnel issues
- Planning, directing and organizing quality medical practice with review/establishment of clinical policies and protocols
- Overseeing clinical operations with a focus on the efficient use of EMR, clinical schedule, and that providers are operating at the top of their license
- Attending leadership meetings as a representative for medical services
- Attending other committees and meetings as appropriate
- May act as executive director in their absence with medical emergencies on campus
Indirect patient care:
- Reviews daily reports from WashUPD, Timely Care and overnight provider on call notes and coordinates appropriate follow up
- Meets with families of complicated medical patients and helps coordinate care for their students
Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range Base pay is commensurate with experience.
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
