Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Pediatric Physical Therapist to join our team in Marion County, Florida. This position involves working in local school settings, providing physical therapy services to students with a range of exceptionalities and special needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving the motor skills and mobility of children, collaborating with school staff, and working closely with caregivers to support each child's success in the educational environment.


Compensation: · $58/hour as an Independent Contractor - CEU’s available

Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday, during regular school hours.
  • Flexible scheduling options available.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current Florida State Physical Therapy license.
  • Pediatric experience preferred, especially in school-based or pediatric clinical settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional growth.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment and/or willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with common pediatric conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, developmental coordination disorder, or other neurological/physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' physical and motor skills.
  • Develop individualized therapy plans based on assessments, collaborating with educators, special education teams, and parents.
  • Provide direct physical therapy interventions, including exercises, gross motor skills, and mobility training to improve motor skills, strength, coordination, and overall physical function.
  • Supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants
  • Work with children with various diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, developmental delays, neurological disorders, autism, and orthopedic conditions.
  • Document therapy sessions, progress reports, and modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide training and education to school staff and parents on proper physical care techniques and adaptive equipment.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress to school staff, parents, and educational teams.
  • Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and collaborate on goal-setting.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including school policies related to physical therapy services.
  • Advocate for the physical health and well-being of students, ensuring access to necessary resources and accommodations.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in pediatric physical therapy and participate in ongoing professional development.
