Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Manage outsourced Telecom Network Design vendors through regularly scheduled progress meetings, quality assurance of submittals, and providing feedback to both the vendor and the Vendor Management team.  Frequent updates shall be provided to the Construction Management team outlining the completed work and the forecasted completed dates.  Team Leas a small group of CAD technicians to complete FTTx designs and permitting packets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead outsource design vendor team meetings to ensure production schedules are meet and provide any necessary corrective action plans to ensure strict deadlines are met
  • Ensure obstacles such as culverts, waterways, easements, aerial trespass, etc. are accounted for in the design
  • Organize, record, & Communicate Project schedules & timelines to internal project manager(s)
  • Intermediate Project Management Skills & Practices
  • Must be able to read colors on screen and on paper

Required Education and Experiences

  • 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline.  Civil preferred
  • HS diploma plus a minimum of 10 years Project Management experience in the deployment of Fiber Optic Technology
  • Minimum of five years' experience managing construction resources of FTTx projects
  • Minimum of ten years of managing cross functional teams that include both internal and external resources
  • Minimum of 10 years Fiber Optic technical experience
  • Must be an effective communicator, able to deliver messages through various methods
  • Candidate should possess sound intuition and computer literacy
  • Fluent Language Skills in English both spoken and written
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks effectively in an actively changing environment
  • Results oriented with a high commitment level to task completion
  • Willingness to work outside of normal scheduled business hours when necessary
  • Sound problem solving and decision making processes and skills

Desired Experiences

  • B.S. Engineering or equivalent technical degree

  • Experience in multiple businesses or technical organizations

  • Project Team focused on single technical discipline

  • Prior project or work team experience

  • Possesses network with Corning global technical community and key external suppliers / partners

  • External recognition such as Green / Yellow / Black Belt, Lean, PMI, Professional Engineering or member of a Technical society

  • Future Project Management Certification program may apply

  • Person must be willing to remain in this position for a minimum of two years

The range for this position is $81,750.00 - $112,406.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
